Setting up your webshop: domain, times and delivery

From subdomain to delivery zones: everything that decides how guests order online, and how to close the shop temporarily.

Where everything lives

Go to Webshop. The settings are split across tabs: Shop & domain, Status & announcement, Appearance, Order times & delivery, Delivery zones, Availability, POS alert, Payments and Emails. View shop opens your shop exactly as a guest sees it.

Your shop's address

Under Shop & domain you pick a default subdomain, for example pizza-bella. That works immediately — nothing else to arrange.

Want your own address such as order.myrestaurant.com? Enter it under Custom domain and have whoever manages your website point a CNAME at your Deskly shop. The default subdomain keeps working alongside it.

Closing temporarily

Too busy, or the fryer gave up? Under Status & announcement switch on Close webshop temporarily, with a short explanation for the customer. Fill in a reopens at moment and the shop opens again by itself; leave it empty and you reopen it manually.

The same tab holds the homepage announcement — a bar at the top, a popup each visitor sees once, or both. A good spot for changed opening hours or a promotion.

Pickup and delivery set separately

Under Order times & delivery, Pickup and Delivery each have their own days, opening and closing times and capacity:

  • Slot length (min) — how long one time slot lasts.
  • Max per slot — how many orders you can handle per slot. This is your throttle at peak times.
  • Preparation (min) — how far ahead the first order may be placed.
  • Days ahead — how far in advance guests may order.

Customer may pick a time slot lets guests choose a time. Add Time slot required and "as soon as possible" disappears, forcing a concrete slot.

Costs and VAT

  • A packaging fee can be charged per order or per item, with your own wording on the receipt.
  • VAT on delivery costs defaults to the high rate. If that differs in your situation, check with your accountant before changing it.
  • Delivery costs per area are set under Delivery zones, where you draw on the map how far you deliver.

Taking products offline

Under Availability you switch a product off for the webshop, for instance when it is sold out. Note that this does not touch the POS — it stays orderable there. See Managing products, categories and prices.

The order arriving in your venue

Online orders come in on the POS and on the Kitchen screen. The POS alert tab decides how insistently the POS asks for attention when one arrives — which matters if your device is not always in sight.
