Setting up QR ordering at the table

Table codes, house style and a grace period — and why a photographed sticker does nothing from the sofa at home.

Where to set it up

Go to Table codes, under Ordering at the table. Every table has its own code there — not a sequential number anyone could guess, but a random string. That code goes on the sticker or card on the table.

Replacing a table's code

Sticker lost, damaged, or turned up somewhere it should not be? Tap Replace on that table. A new code is generated and the old sticker stops working. So you never have to redo every table — just that one.

House style

Under House style you set what the guest sees after scanning:

  • Accent colour and background.
  • A welcome message, for example "Welcome! Take your time, we will bring it to your table."
  • Grace period before sending — the short window in which the guest can still change the order before it goes to the kitchen.

Changes are visible almost immediately: guests see them within half a minute.

Why a photographed code gets you nowhere

A sticker is printed, so it can be photographed. Even so, nobody can order from their sofa with it, because the code only does anything while the table is open in the POS.

Staff open the table when guests sit down; once the bill is settled, the code stops working. Anyone opening it at home simply reads that the table is not open.

If you do not open the table, guests who are actually seated cannot order either. On the POS you do that with Open table for guests — see Moving an order, merging tables and switching servers.

Orders arrive for approval

An order from a table appears on the POS first. One tap and it goes to the kitchen. That is your check on who is ordering alcohol, and it catches a wrongly scanned table before any food is made.
