What is a connected terminal?
With a connected payment solution, the card payment starts from the POS. The amount is offered to the payment flow, reducing manual entry. This lowers the chance of incorrect amounts and keeps orders and payments easier to reconcile.

When does standalone make sense?
A standalone reader operates separately from the POS. Staff enter the amount on the device and then register the transaction as a card payment in Deskly POS.
Standalone may suit you when:
- You want to keep an existing terminal
- Your provider does not use a direct connection
- You open a temporary extra sales point
- You need a straightforward backup option
Manual entry creates an additional check, so include terminal reconciliation in the daily closing routine.
Mobile or counter-based
A mobile terminal works well for table service. A counter model may be calmer for a takeaway business or fixed till. Also consider battery life, network coverage, contactless payments and how quickly the device becomes available after each transaction.
